• 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 500g beef round
  • olive oil
  • rosemary

  • 1 egg
  • 20ml milk (sauce)
  • 100ml red wine
  • 15ml balsamic vinegar
  • 20g butter
  • flour
  • 50g onion
  • (mashed potatoes)
  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 tsp mayonnaise
  • 20ml milk
  • vinegar
  • salt
  • pepper


  1. Boil the potatoes until soft.
  2. Then mash together with mayonnaise, 20ml milk, vinegar, salt and pepper until smooth.
  3. Make cuts on one puff pastry sheet, creating a mesh pattern.
  4. Season beef round with salt and pepper.
  5. Grease frying pan with olive oil and cook beef until lightly browned on all sides.
  6. Take out the beef to set aside and reserve the pan drippings.
  7. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce with the pan drippings.
  8. Cook until smooth and slightly thickened.
  9. Place beef onto the puff pastry followed by the mashed potatoes.
  10. Wrap everything up with the puff pastry.
  11. Top with the second sheet of puff pastry and cut off the excess with a knife.
  12. Combine egg and 20ml milk to make an egg wash.
  13. Brush egg wash onto the pastry and bake for 30 minutes at 220 degrees C.
  14. Serve with sauce and garnish with rosemary.
